Harbour racing is possibly the fastest growing paddlesport in NSW. This sport is open to a variety of craft, from Ocean Racing Skis, SLSA ‘Spec’ Skis, Outrigger Canoes, to Sea Kayaks and Stand-Up Paddleboards. Harbour Racing is the sport of racing these craft in enclosed or protected waters Many MWKC members compete in the Annual Harbour Racing Series and the Club is host to several, notably the Pittwater Challenge. Full details of the series and this great event are set out below.

Canoe marathon would traditionally have seen competitors race from one point to another across possible combinations of river, lake, estuary and sea while having to navigate around any obstacles, having to carry the boat at times if necessary

Today a shorter multi-lap based format has developed, to encourage a more spectator-friendly approach to the discipline with courses created to be covered in laps with a number of portages (grab your boat and run) added in.

The Paddle NSW Marathon Series is based on a Divisional format, with participants selecting Divisions and distances based on how far and how fast they can paddle.

Sprint Racing is one of the best-known competitive canoeing paddlesports in Australia and offers a great national and international career-path for athletes with aspirations of competing on the international stage.

Within NSW, athletes can begin their careers being coached at club level and compete for their clubs at the NSW Sprint Series and annual State Championships, all of which combine to ensuring the best for NSW athletes.
Races are typically run over three distances, specifically 1000m, 500m and 200m, in K1, K2 and K4 racing boats.
