BOAT RACKS

(from old Website) At MWKC we have an extensive boat shed with storage for both members’ boats and the many Club boats we have to offer.

Spaces are limited and the limit per member is 2 racks. Requests for any more racks must be made in writing to the Board and are subject to availability.

The way we manage our racks is set out in our Regulations, which you can find in our Governance section. The relevant section is reproduced below.

MWKC INC REGULATIONS 2021

8. CLUB RACK STORAGE

Club rack storage is available to Club financial club members who are involved in the activities of the Club.

The Club Captain (or delegate) shall administer the following Rules:

8.1.1 Priority for a rack shall be based on: a) Regular competitor in club and club sanctioned events. b) Regular Involvement in club training sessions. c) Regular involvement in social paddling operating from the club. [Note: ‘Regular’ is defined as ‘a minimum of 12 events per annum’.]

8.1.2 Consideration shall be given to the member’s ability to physically place and retrieve their boat from a rack.

8.1.3 For members whose use of the rack does not fall under items 8.1.1 and 8.1.2, the committee may advise a member, by email, that their rack is to be reallocated. The Club Captain or delegate shall have power to adjudicate on any response within 2 weeks of the email and move to reallocate the rack as appropriate.

8.1.4 The Club Captain or delegate has the power to consider any member request for a rack reallocation.

8.1.5 Members with more than one rack shall only receive priority consideration under items 8.1.1 and 8.1.2 for one boat. Allocation of second and subsequent racks shall be decided by the Club Captain or delegate.

8.1.6 Rack payments are due by 30 June. Members who have not renewed their rack payment by 14 July will be advised by email to remove their boat from the Club or purchase a boat rack. If by 28 July the member has not made payment, the member’s rack shall be reallocated by the Club Captain or delegate.

8.1.7 Any member’s boat with unpaid rack fees at the end of 6 months, shall have that boat subject to sale by the Club Captain or delegate to recover the unpaid rack fees.

8.1.8 The Club Captain or delegate will have direct access to the membership database and generate reports.

8.2 CONDITIONS OF BOAT STORAGE

8.2.1 All boats are to be washed and dried prior to storage.

8.2.2 Club insurance does not cover private boats for theft or damage.

8.2.3 Members need to take out their own insurance if desired. Paddle Australia offers insurance on their website.

8.2.4 In the event of a fire, private boats will be covered to a limited degree by the MWKC insurance policy at the discretion of the insurer.

8.2.5 MWKC takes no responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged property stored or left at the club.

8.2.6 MWKC retains the right to request removal of a boat. These reasons may include insufficient space, failure to pay fees, lack of use, inappropriate behaviour or the lack of care for the equipment.
